Red Land Prom Last Year
It’s prom time, which means it’s time to find an outfit to match the theme of the prom!
This year’s top prom themes are…Drum roll…
Masquerade Prom Theme. There’s a reason that masquerade balls have been popular since the 15th century. They are glamorous and lots of fun.
India Prom Theme. An India themed prom is an exotic option that uses vibrant colors and lots of gold. You can have a really luxurious feeling setting if you pick the India theme for your prom.
Vegas Casino Prom Theme. A casino prom theme lends itself to a richly designed set and a luxury feel. This is a very formal prom theme. Everyone will have lots of fun acting the part.
Asian Prom Theme. A Chinese Asian theme is a very beautiful choice for a prom. It feels exotic and dramatic with red, black and white colors.
Under the Sea Prom. An under the sea prom is a fantasy theme that makes you think of Atlantis. Lots of shimmery fabrics and magical lights!
Do you remember your prom theme? Be sure to share it on our Facebook page for a chance to win $25!
Stay tuned next week for pictures from local proms!
A prom dress is likely the second most important dress a girl will ever buy, right behind her wedding dress. The search for the perfect dress is one of excitement and adventure. Every girl wants the dress that will catch everyone’s eye and be the envy of the night.
Right now, hot dresses range from dazzling sequins to high-low skirts to short, sassy, short styles. Also in big demand are flowing chiffon formal gowns embellished with oversized stones and beading.
And for girls who dreams of being the Prom Princess who charms Prince Charming, only a ball gown will do for the big night!
For every girl on the hunt for the perfect dress, it’s a fashion jungle out there.
Here the top five prom dress trends for 2012:
1. Glisten Up! Shining sequins in every color of the rainbow sparkle on and off the dance floor.
2. Fashion Scoop! Dish up yummy shades of ice cream flavors like pistachio or blueberry for a delicious look.
3. Short Story! Forget going to great lengths to be on trend. Short Prom dresses above the knee are so sexy and in.
4. Mirror, Mirror! Geometric shapes of chunky stones and gems create a trendy reflection of your fashion power.
5. Jungle Fever! Wild animal prints in colorful combinations are sure to get noticed in the fashion kingdom.

You were fitted for your dress a few weeks ago! How did it go?
My first dress fitting was a huge success for not only me, but for my girls as well! Did I mention I love my dress? I’m sharing a picture of how fabulous my girls look in their dresses! My matron of honor isn’t present because she’s expecting her first baby any day now!
Were you able to get the guys fitted? What other items could you knock off the list?
Yes! The guys have been fitted for their tuxes! I purchased the rest of the items needed for decorations for the reception and church. I also was able to get the wood slabs needed for our tables cut down…thanks to Uncle Tony! Lastly, our rehearsal dinner has been booked at Visaggios!
How is the wedding party doing?
The wedding party is great! Everyone is really excited for the big day and can’t believe how quick it is approaching for us!
What’s next?
Wedding invitations, helping my mom find the perfect dress and finalizing our honeymoon…we are almost there!

If you had to choose one place you would go, where would it be?
I would love to spend time in Africa. I think I would like a Safari.
Do you have any memorable experiences that you can share from your career?
I went to Egypt for 12 days with a group I was escorting. While sailing the Nile we docked for the night and it was very warm in the cabin. At 4am I decided to go to the top deck to sit on a pool chair. At 5am I heard the hum of prayer all around me, it was one of the most spiritual experience of my life.

Here’s the latest from Sarah!
You’ve been planning the wedding for about a year now. How many guests do you plan to invite? Do you think 16 months is a sufficient amount of time for planning a wedding of your size?
We have roughly 190 guests on our list right now. Believe me, it would have been easy to add more, but you have to draw the line somewhere! I think 16 months was actually a little too much time. I wanted to enjoy the process, but now with four months to go I’m just ready for it to be over so I can enjoy married life!
Next week, you’ll be fitted for your dress! This is one of the most exciting experiences for a bride! How are you feeling about it?!
I have been working really hard at losing weight. I’m so anxious to put on my dress again!
How have you been doing balancing your job, personal life, and wedding planning this past year?
It hasn’t been easy, but I’m doing my best taking it one day at a time. The best advice I can give for someone is to STAY ORGANIZED! This is the key to success across the board with your wedding, your job, and your personal life!
What else do you plan to tackle in the coming month?
I’m hopefully finishing up buying all my items that are needed for my wedding, having the guys finally get fitted, and finalize some things with my florist & travel agent. At this point, I’m feeling really great about my wedding planning progress!
Created in March of 2010, Pinterest is a virtual pinboard that allows users to organize and share images from the web. After creating boards, the user “pins” a picture which is embedded with a link to the original site (another board). Users have the ability to like, share, and even comment on different pins. The by-invitation-only networking site has created a monopoly with its powerfully visual content, quiet social elements, and simplistic features.
As a bride, I have found Pinterest to be my number one source for ideas. I have the ability to store ideas for my wedding in personally categorized boards such as Ceremony or Wedding Photography Ideas. The boards keep my wedding organized and creative! Other boards such as My Style allow me to collect ideas for outfits and hairstyles while the Meals and Snacks boards help me keep my favorite recipes ideas in one place. Some of my favorite Pinterest boards are Style Me Pretty and Apartment Therapy.
Businesses are using Pinterest to curate information related to professional and organizational topics through images. Top retailing pinners include HGTV, Nordstrom’s and ModCloth. These large retailers have products and services that tell their story through images they post to boards. The best retailers on Pinterest demonstrate a strategic balance between their own content and content found from other pinners.
Whether you want to hop on the Pinterest bandwagon or discover what the business-side holds, I encourage everyone to ‘have a look.’
Are you using Pinterest? What are you favorite boards?
